Adult Ministries

Many men and women today are looking for opportunities to connect and grow with other adults. The adult ministry at Christ Church is built to help you connect and grow with other adults in classes and groups. Whether you’re looking for a men’s, women’s, or Bible study we offer various opportunities throughout the year guaranteed to fuel your faith wherever you are in your journey.

On the last Saturday of each month, the men of CC join together for breakfast, fellowship, and a Bible Study hosted at one of their homes.

All women of the church are automatically members of CCW. We meet the first Tuesday of each month at noon for a luncheon and short business meeting. (July and August are dark) The main focus of the group is fellowship and supporting Martha’s Market in their outreach work. We plan regular outings such as our annual trip to Fresno for the New Wrinkles Variety show.

Members of the church and friends meet each Tuesday from 9:30 – 2:30 to work on craft projects for our annual November Boutique. The working time is flexible, come when you are able, leave when you need to. No experience in crafting is needed but their are three requirements. You must like to laugh, talk, and eat!

We have raised over $50,000 for outreach to our community & beyond. This year we made a substantial donation to the Paradise Fire Victims as well as Manna House, Helping Hands, Boys & Girls Club, Sierra Senior Center, Toys for Tots, Oakhurst Elementary Book Buddies, Madera County Sheriff’s Lost and Found program, Gideon Bibles, Etc.

Visit the Martha’s Market website!

Each Thursday morning, we meet in the church for healing at 10:00 AM followed by Bible study at 10:00. The study simultaneously in person and on Zoom allowing attendance by people out of the area. Contact the church for a Zoom link. We realize we all have life events going on that preclude us from attending every week. We try to tailor our studies so one still feels comfortable after an absence.

Children's Ministry

Children matter at Christ Church. During our weekend service, we offer ministry to children from birth to 6th grade. When you come on a Sunday morning you’ll find a safe environment with exciting and Christ-centered teachings. Not only will your child have fun in our children’s ministry, but they’ll also learn valuable lessons about God and the Christian Faith. We can’t wait to meet your child this weekend!

Sunday School is held during the 10 AM service. The children begin the service with their parents in the Sanctuary and are then dismissed to the Sunday School room. Each week a Bible lesson is presented and the children discuss how to apply that lesson to their daily lives. They also learn the ten commandments, Lord’s prayer and the Apostle’s creed. The children than complete a craft related to the theme. After their lesson, the children return to the main church where they participate in the Communion portion of the Service.

An acolyte is an assistant or follower assisting the celebrant in a religious service or procession.  An acolyte server attends to supporting tasks at the altar such as fetching and carrying, ringing the altar bell, helping bring up the gifts, brings up the book, among other things. Children 7 to 18  can serve as acolytes.

Catechesis is an ancient practice of Christian disciple-making that uses a simple question-and-answer format to instruct new believers and church members in the core beliefs of Christianity. Catechism classes are provided throughout the year to prepare young believers in Christ to be baptized and or confirmed.

Serving Ministries

One of the best ways to get to know others at Christ Church is through a serving in one of our ministries. If you have been attending our church, we would love for you to consider getting involved. Our serving ministries are a great place to get started. We are always looking for people to help lead in worship, prayer, and hospitality. Come join one our teams. If you have question fill out a connection card.

The choir meets at 9AM on Sunday morning for practice. We sing a combination of traditional hymns and praise music. All are welcome to join.

Do you play an instrument? We would love to have you join us either on a regular basis or for a special performance.

The Daughters of the Holy Cross is an order of women dedicated to serving our Lord by following a rule of life: Prayer, Service, Study and Evangelism. We maintain the Prayer Chain of Christ Church. If you are on the prayer chain, when an emergency comes up, we contact you either by email or by a phone call and ask your prayers for someone in need. It could be a sudden medical problem or any kind of emergency that needs our prayers for resolution. (For our new members, we don’t call before 8am or after 9pm.) Our goal is to get as many prayers going as possible, as soon as possible, asking for His help and intercession. If you have an emergency or would like to be part of our Prayer Chain, call the church at 559-683-7374. Our prayers work.

A volunteer group of the parish whose ministry is to care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the parish. Altar Guild members prepare the sanctuary for services, and clean up afterwards. Altar Guild members frequently supervise the decoration of the sanctuary of the parish with flowers.

The mission of the hospitality ministry is to provide a welcoming environment of love, acceptance, comfort, support, care, and unity for visitors, members, guests, and friends in order to enhance their worship experience, encourage fellowship, and help build a community of Christian believers.
