During the Eucharist every Sunday we proclaim “we are bold to pray” the Lord’s Prayer. We often say the words of this prayer without thinking about what we are saying. Frederick Buechner, an American theologian, says it takes guts to pray this prayer. We are not to pray the Lord’s Prayer lightly.
The Lord’s Prayer is found in Luke 11:2 – 6 and Matthew 6:9 – 13. In three studies we are going to explore why Jesus said, “pray like this.” He taught it to us, and we should know why. N. T. Wright, The Anglican catechism “To Be a Christian” and other Anglican theologians will be our guide.

Our catechism has biblical underpinnings for every part of the prayer. No book is needed other than your bibles (bring the catechism if you have one). We will explore the biblical roots of the words of Jesus’ prayer.
